Overview

A souq is the Arabic market — the loudest, busiest street in any old city. Neon Souq is that street at night: oud and guitar melodies over tabla, sagat and hard trap drums, seven full loops from 75 to 150 BPM, with the parts behind them split out so you can take the groove without the melody, or the melody without the drums. Five 808s, five vocal cuts and three FX finish the job.

Seven full loops at 75, 91, 110, 138, 141, 147 and 150 BPM. Fourteen percussion and drum loops — tabla, sagat, trap drums and an 808 groove. Ten extra layers: melody, chords, bass and choirs, guitar, and vocals paired with tabla, sagat or 808. Five 808 one-shots, five vocal cuts and three FX.

Every file is 24-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz, the tempo is in every loop's filename, and nothing in the kit clips.

01

Seven full loops, and what is behind them

Each full loop is a finished 16 to 32 bar idea at its own tempo — 75, 91, 110, 138, 141, 147 and 150 BPM — so the kit covers slow, heavy Arabic trap and fast drill-speed bounce without everything sitting at the same speed.

Behind them sit ten extra layers pulled from the same ideas: the melody on its own, the chords, the bass and choirs, the guitar with vocals, and vocals paired with tabla, sagat or an 808. Keep what you want and replace the rest.

02

Tabla, sagat and trap drums

Fourteen percussion and drum loops, cut at the tempos of the full loops so they drop straight under them. Tabla alone, tabla with a little sagat, perc and top loops, intro drums, groove drums, full drum loops, drums with sub bass, and an 808 loop.

The Egyptian percussion is the point: the tabla and the finger cymbals are what make a trap beat sound like it came from Cairo and not from anywhere.

03

Five 808s with Egyptian names

El Masry, Mahragan, Mawal, Mazar and Moled — five 808 one-shots named after Egyptian street life: the mahraganat party, the mawwal vocal intro, the mulid festival. Four long tails and one short punch.

04

Vocals and FX for the transitions

Five vocal cuts — an ambient intro, an "Ahhh-huuh", a "Go" and two beeps — and three FX: a riser swell, a noisy drone and a tom hit. Small pieces that turn a loop into an arrangement.

05

Ready to drop in

24-bit / 44.1 kHz stereo WAV throughout. The tempo is in every loop's filename, the folders are sorted by type — Full Loops, Percs & Drums, Extras, 808s, Vocals, FX — and there is no clipping anywhere in the kit. A read-me and the licence are in the zip.

Questions

Asked before.

Can I use it in a song I sell?

Yes. Commercial songs, beats, albums, client work, sync, advertising and film are all covered by the included licence — you keep 100% of your royalties, with no clearance, no split and no credit required.

What am I not allowed to do?

Resell or redistribute the sounds themselves, processed or not, as a sample pack, drum kit or sound library, or share the pack on file-sharing sites. Use them in your music, not inside someone else's pack.

What tempos are the loops?

The seven full loops run at 75, 91, 110, 138, 141, 147 and 150 BPM, and every drum, perc and extra loop matches one of them. The tempo is written in each loop's filename.

What is in the Extras folder?

Parts pulled from the full loops: melody, chords, bass and choirs, guitar with vocals, and vocals paired with tabla, sagat or an 808. Use them to rebuild a loop your way.

Which DAW does it work with?

Any DAW that opens WAV files — FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper and the rest. Drag and drop.

What does Neon Souq mean?

Souq is the Arabic word for market — the crowded old street where everything is sold and everyone is shouting. Neon is the same street after dark. The kit was made by M III D O, an Egyptian producer in London.
